The ironic genius of Posy and her comics
#Exhibitions

Best known for her long collaboration with the London newspaper The Guardian, Rosemary Elizabeth "Posy" Simmonds is a British cartoonist, writer and illustrator of children's books and author of graphic novels and comic strips. This retrospective - developed in close collaboration with the artist - pays homage to the richness and diversity of her career, from the beginnings to the present, bringing together nearly one hundred and thirty original pieces, previously unpublished drawings, sketches, notebooks, and film excerpts. In this Parisian exhibition we therefore find her work as a cartoonist for The Guardian, where Posy Simmonds humorously outlines English society, through archetypal figures, some of which will become the heroines of her future graphic novels. We also find her stories for young, modern and insolent, Gemma Bovery (1999), Tamara Drewe (2007) and Cassandra Darke (2018), and finally we discover an epilogue dedicated to her drawings on the literary and publishing world, up to her most recent works and her drawings linked to France.
