For a few months, the masterpieces of Ancona are moving to Rome and choosing the Capitoline Museums as their showcase. The rooms on the ground floor of Palazzo dei Conservatori are ready to welcome a selection of great works from the Pinacoteca Civica "Francesco Podesti". Founded between 1880 and 1888 starting from an initial group of works donated by the painter Francesco Podesti, the Pinacoteca of Ancona today boasts one of the most important collections in the Marche, with absolute masterpieces among which the stupendous Pala Gozzi by Tiziano Vecellio, the first work dated and signed by the Venetian master, the Madonna with Child by Carlo Crivelli, the Sacra Conversazione, also known as the Pala dell’Alabarda, by Lorenzo Lotto, and works by Olivuccio di Ceccarello, Sebastiano Del Piombo and Guercino, to which modern art works have been added over the years.
