The great Colombian artist Fernando Botero returns to Rome in an exhibition organized at Palazzo Bonaparte which promises to be the most complete ever presented in the capital. Born in Medellin in 1932, Botero passed away last year. He is considered one of the most important Latin American artists of his generation. His art explores the human figure in an unconventional way and in particular the female universe, where the sumptuous roundness and abundance are returned in paintings, watercolors and sculptures with three-dimensional effects and full, bright colours. An aesthetic that goes beyond the merely descriptive, naïve or primitive dimension and which opens the doors to a world where reality surpasses imagination. A poetic world, suspended in time and space, where dreams merge with Magical Realism.
Last night, Bvlgari celebrated the launch of Masterpieces from the Torlonia Collection, a new exhibit at the Louvre.
