Martha Jungwirth arrives in Shanghai, after the acclaimed retrospective that the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao dedicated to her in 2024. Born in 1940, originally from Vienna, Martha Jungwirth has explored painting, always keeping a balance between abstraction and figuration. On display it is possibile to admire works inspired by current events mixed with works that are clearly a tribute to the history of art and the old Masters who have influenced Jungwirth's artistic practice. Whether born spontaneously or in a controlled form, the Austrian artist's painting is always a revelation. In her canvases the images unfold and grow little by little: usually everything starts from a patch of color that expands and is enriched with signs, fingerprints, scratches and shoe prints are an intimate index of the artist's presence. Paper is her favorite surface on which to work. An exhibition that transmits strong passion and dynamism.
