Second appointment with the exhibition La Mode en mouvement, a project divided into three episodes dedicated to the theme of the history of fashion in sport which will be open to the public until the beginning of January 2025. With more than 250 new works presented during this second installation - which takes place in a Paris immersed in the Olympic spirit - the exhibition retraces, through the museum's collections, a history of fashion from the Age of Enlightenment to the present day and develops the transversal theme of the body in movement which allows us to understand the place that clothing has in the practice of physical and sporting activities up to the social consequences of its evolution. This exhibition allows the public to measure the progressive specialization of sportswear as well as the introduction of sportswear into the everyday wardrobe. The seaside section focuses on sea bathing and swimming, symbols of the democratization of sports practice starting from the end of the 19th century. It is an opportunity to discover the important collection of swimwear, beachwear, beach dresses and accessories, kept at the Palais Galliera. It is also a section that explores the evolution of the relationship with the body through its revelation in the public sphere and which therefore inevitably also addresses the issues of the body in comparison with the evolution of public morality from the Belle Epoque to today's world.
