The Wonders of the Torlonia Collection

The wonder of classical art shines at the Louvre in Paris where until November it is possible to visit an extraordinary exhibition that brings the masterpieces of the Torlonia Collection outside of Italy for the first time, which for the occasion is hosted in the apartments of Anne of Austria where the permanent collections of the French museum dedicated to ancient sculpture are kept. Visitors to the museum will thus be able to discover one of the most important collections of ancient Roman sculptures in the world. Works that have very rarely had the opportunity to be exhibited to the public before today such as the delicate bust of the La Fanciulla da Vulci from the 1st century BC, the bronze statue of General Germanicus (reconstructed from a few original fragments as was once customary) also from the first century, the famous Hestia Giustiniani, a marble replica from the second century BC of a Greek original from 470-460 BC or the beautiful statue of Il Caprone from the second century BC which was restored by none other than Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
