Wang Xun was a famous art historian, a pioneer and founder of the modern Chinese school of art history. In 1957, under his direction, the Department of Art History, CAFA, was established, which became the first study center in the field in all of China. At the age of just 22, Wang Xun distinguished himself by publishing the essay The Value of Jade in Chinese Culture which in a short time became a milestone in the study of art, inviting many scholars to a deep reflection on the spirit of art. On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Wang Xun’s birth, the Tsinghua University Art Museum dedicates an exhibition to the renowned scholar, displaying a series of documents and historical materials of extraordinary importance.
