Oskar Reinhart was a Swiss art patron and collector, born in Winterthur in 1885. A part of his precious art collection arrives in London for the first time at the Courtauld Gallery where the public will be able to admire some masterpieces including works by Goya, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso and Cezanne. The exhibition follows a chronological thread, with an opening dedicated to the pre-impressionists, with Goya (with Still Life with Three Salmon Steaks, created between 1808 and 1812), Géricault and Courbet at the centre. The exhibition then continues with a rich Impressionist core with works by Manet, Cezanne, Renoir and Post-Impressionist with the extraordinary representation by Toulouse-Lautrec of the female artist Cha-U-Kao, The Clown Cha-U-Kao (1895). Triumphing to conclude a broad exhibition with works by Van Gogh including A Ward in the Hospital at Arles and The Courtyard of the Hospital at Arles (1889) which are mirrored by the famous Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear (1889) from the Courtauld collection.
