To get an idea of the character, just look at the pose with which she places herself in front of a camera lens, with that irreverent grimace, which is a bit reminiscent of Billy Idol's snout, with which she addresses the unwary spectator. Tracey Emin is an artist who loves to challenge the public and common morality. Her works of art are not afraid to amaze and sometimes shock the viewer. Emin uses a variety of techniques and means of expression - from drawing, to painting, to sculpture, to photography and video art - to give life to her different works of art. Tracey Emin looks at her life as the main material from which to draw to create her art. In recent years her practice has mirrored her precarious health condition (she was diagnosed with bladder cancer): drips and obliterations indicate the fluidity of the organism, while her body fluctuates between joy and suffering in a journey between birth and death. Always strong, powerful, irreverent, Emin’s new exhibition features new paintings, works on paper and a monumental bronze sculpture and opens in London to coincide with Frieze London 2024.
