According to some, the map of Australia can be read like a giant musical score - that of the songs of the Aboriginal people, whose every melody is linked to a specific spot, which in turn is connected to an ancient legend. In the ‘80s, Bruce Chatwin travelled around the continent and told of his discoveries in his book The Songlines. Starting with the name itself, this book has inspired the exhibition coming to the Pavilion of Contemporary Art - an almost cartographic look at the Australian art scene, with which the PAC continues its journey through the creativity of the five continents, after its events for Africa and South America. In the exhibition, the works of Aboriginal artists - who, already during the XX Century made their own mark on modern art - encounter the works of all those who, coming to Australia from Asia and Europe, contributed in creating the melting pot that makes up Australian society. Paintings, installations, videos and performances are the means used to explore a variety of themes - from cultural diversity to the rediscovery of one’s own roots, all the way up to the anxiety of the uncertain present.
