The Best of Contemporary Art at Milano Art Week
#Art

The firmament of art shines again over Milan - exhibitions, performances, urban installations and special events are ready to animate the city for the giant international fair, Miart. For seven days, the most interesting trends of contemporary art invade museums, foundations, galleries and metropolitan spaces with offerings from affirmed artists and surprises from emerging talents still unknown in Italy. With sculpture, painting, video-art and large installations, there’s something for everybody. With a calendar that is still growing, some standouts are the two exhibitions at the Fondazione Prada. The first is a visionary multimedia project dedicated to the imagination of Franz Kafka, a mix of work including the provocative German artist Martin Kippenberger, the cinema of Orson Welles and the electronic sounds of Tangerine Dreams. The second is a portrait of Liu Ye, one of China’s most important contemporary artists. Women’s art is highlighted at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna and at the Pirelli Hangar Bicocca with two national premiers - Iranian sculptor Nairy Baghramian with a commissioned work from Furla and the American artist of Philippine origins Trisha Baga, who has made a calling card out of video and irony.
