English artist Mary Stephenson presents a new series of paintings in this exhibition that is part of the program of the White Cube in Paris dedicated to new talents. Stephenson is an artist interested in how humanity consumes the visual world and how this omnivorous imagery slides into the depths of our unconscious. As a painter the idea is to nourish the canvas, a territory that becomes a fertile space for a dialogue with the unconscious. Mary Stephenson's paintings tend to start from a personal theme, a memory, a trauma or a pain, but then become large play spaces where others can also interact emotionally. Works rooted in personal meaning, but also open to interpretation.
