“We need to offer the child an environment that he is able to use on his own… an environment in which he can live and play.” The principles of the Italian educator and pedagogist Maria Montessori have been a source of inspiration for the greatest designers who have been interested in designing objects dedicated to children. "Rules" which are also a lens through which to see this exhibition dedicated to the creations of children's furniture in the history of 20th century design. Today designers like Matali Crasset draw from the world of childhood another approach to design, based on "object-situations", hybridity to nourish evolving scenarios. An exhibition that is part of the legacy of the Center de Création Industrielle, which has organized important exhibitions on childhood over the years. Presenting around a hundred works, the exhibition explores the renewal of design through the prism of these "small objects", leading to new typologies of objects with a joyful aesthetic and playful tools for learning and opening up to creativity.
