The Young American Artist Shara Hughes with Her First Exhibition in Shanghai
#Exhibitions

An explosion of brilliant colours and sinuous forms greets spectators at the personal exhibition of the young American artist Shara Hughes who, with her already iconic style, reconciles imagination and reality, abstraction and the figurative, in a clever game of familiar situations seen through the mind’s eye. It’s no coincidence that among the artists that have fascinated Hughes the most are Paul Gauguin, Chris Ofili, but also Howard Hodgkin. Under the apparently naive surface of the works is a natural and spontaneous interest for human psychology. A sensibility that renders the landscapes on display a mental projection of the Id of the artist but also a universal reflection on the human condition, visible thanks to the colours and forms on the canvas but where the psychological implications go well beyond the visible.
