A New Culture of Images for Gao Ludi

A New Culture of Images for Gao Ludi
#Exhibitions

The painting of young artist Gao Ludi, born in 1990 in Zhengzhou in the province of Henan, now living and working in Beijing, is the star of the first exhibition of the year at WHITE SPACE BEIJING. Phosphorescent tones, the use of a visual vocabulary linked to the quotidian and some little surprises, a choice of the subjects depicted rooted in the constant presence of social media in people’s lives are the guidelines of the work of Gao, an artist in search of a new culture of images. His painting doesn’t renounce images that might otherwise be cast away for their banality, their normality but, rather, with the tracts of colour flowing from them, emanating light which falls upon these subjects and projects them into a new dimension, conferring upon the familiar surreal and unexpected traits, creating pop images that have already become iconic.
