In the QR codes the whole life, art and thought of Michelangelo Pistoletto
#Exhibitions

On the occasion of the artist's 90th birthday, Galleria Continua celebrates Michelangelo Pistoletto by dedicating an exhibition to him in all eight exhibition venues in the main capitals of the world. The initiative aims to lay bare the long journey of research towards perfection that Pistoletto undertook a long time ago. Drawing inspiration from one of the most famous mirrors, QR Code Possession - Self-portrait (2022), and using the outline of the book The Formula of Creation published last December, the exhibition is a portrait of the Italian Master and an expression of his dialogue with the society. From his earliest attempts at the art of photography, dating back to 1975, to his most recent mirror installation, viewers are invited to delve deep into the artist's mind. Michelangelo Pistoletto trained in the workshop of his father, a restorer of ancient paintings. But fortunately for him, the ancient models he had under his eyes were now outdated and as an artist he could move in the space of freedom that twentieth-century art had conquered, seeking his own path. The result of this journey, the recently published book offered the artist the opportunity to open a dialogue with leading figures in the fields of science, economics, politics and religion throughout Italy. Each encounter was transformed into a work of art through a colorful QR code, hand-drawn on a large canvas. The monumental gallery space on the lower level features 20 colorful QR code paintings, which can be enjoyed as abstract art in themselves or, when activated, reveal stories. The Formula of Creation is a book that creates a perfect closed loop that connects society, technology and art.
