The monographic exhibition of the young Chinese artist Li Qing fills both spaces of Tang Contemporary Art and introduces spectators to the varied world of the artist - florescent colours, scenes somewhere between reality and fantasy, cutting irony in a visual game that explores the concept of the perception of reality, the act of seeing and being seen, as exemplified by one of the most iconic and lasting motifs of the artist’s career - the use of assembled frames to create windows or the use of actual windows themselves. These latter elements, poetic as much as they are structural, are used as backdrops from which the paintings and subjects of the visions of Li Qing emerge. Li Qing’s scenes tend to be of moments of daily life, urban scenes, sometimes connected to architecture, however they are always a juxtaposition of varying registers, moving between the probable and the impossible, the real and the imaginary, combined with potent colours and ironic titles, launching the spectator into a parallel world, closer to daily life than one might expect but, nevertheless, unexplored by our eyes.
