Painting and Photography in the Works of Daniele Genadry
#Exhibitions

The observation of landscapes, photos, sketches and drawings, these are some of the elements that characterise the art of Daniele Genadry, who lives and works between Paris and Beirut. “The contrast between the experience of seeing and the photograph (looking at a room and looking at a photo of the room) makes me realise a gap - something absent from the photo, also unnoticeable while just looking. So it is the photograph that reveals what is missing - the limits of seeing naturally - and starts the process of trying to make something.” Daniele Genadry concentrates on the rapport between painting and photography, exploring the potential of an image to generate its own temporality, investigating the way in which distance, light and movement influence the visual experience. In the exhibition hosted at the Jameel Arts Centre, as part of the series Artist’s Rooms, Daniele Genadry presents the work Blind Light from 2017 and some new works based on her recent studies conducted in La Rochelle, in France and in the Grand Canyon in the United States.
