Six Artists and a Collective at The Third Line

Six Artists and a Collective at The Third Line

Gestalt Therapy suggests that, in a fraction of a second, our brain amalgamates the parts of an object or form and sees it entirely. But what happens when the artist interrupts that fraction of a second and the passage between perception and recognition is stalled? The exhibition I Will See It, When I Believe It, at the The Third Line, by turning common sense upside-down, seeks to answer this question. Six artists from various countries challenge, with their own works, the limits and habits of perception. While some artists play with the ambiguity of language and its ability to manipulate, others looks at the contrast between the apparent lightness of an image and the drama of what it narrates or work with illusion - steel seems as soft and malleable as a piece of paper. A wide range of works brought to together by the dissonance between what seems and what is.
