Palazzo Reale hosts an installation by Nico Vascellari, specifically conceived for the Sala delle Cariatidi. Curated by Sergio Risaliti, the exhibition transforms the historic hall into a contemplative space where memory, nature, and rebirth intertwine. At its core is a circular sculpture that, through a sound mechanism, releases seeds of wild plants - symbols of resilience and renewal. Vascellari evokes the scars left by the 1943 bombings, which profoundly marked the Sala delle Cariatidi, setting a pastoral and natural imagery in contrast with wartime devastation. The title Pastorale, starkly opposing that dramatic past, suggests an idea of refuge and harmony. The exhibition continues the artist’s exploration of the interplay between personal history, collective experience, and nature as a redemptive force. Completing the project are the imaginary “boop” creatures and a sustainable installation, designed to live on beyond the exhibition’s end.
