Photography, drawing and sculpture are the basis for the micro-worlds of Teresa Giannico (Bari, 1985): intimates spaces teetering between the real and the possible, created beginning with images of quotidian objects found on the internet or photographed by the artist. From this visual deposit, Giannico selects the elements of her compositions, which she then draws on paper and prints, then creating small dioramas which she photographs and, in the end, destroys, conserving the only traces of the entire process in photos. From the manipulation of reality and pre-existing stories, unexpected combinations and dialogues are born, in which one can find the immense interest of the artist for the theatre and set design. Two never-before-seen projects are on display together at the Viasaterna Gallery. In Lay Out (2015), the artist concentrates on the reproduction of real interiors dug out of ads placed online, exploring the relations between the private and public within the digital realm. Meanwhile, Ricerca8 (2018) brings us to the world of drawing and pictorial juxtaposition - here, objects appear suspended in a mysterious dimension, evoking human presences that are destined to remain in shadow.
