Sara Anstis is an artist born in Stockholm in 1991 who lives and works in London. In her works she uses soft, sensual pastels and oil paint to construct worlds that prepare the ground for explorations of subjectivity, mythology and ecology. Using the visual language of folklore and dreams, Sara Anstis’ paintings and site-specific installations intertwine surreal landscapes, expertly lit figures, anthropomorphic flora and symbolic objects that vibrate both materially and narratively. Subjects that open the doors to stories where the artist explores various themes such as subjectivity, Eros, Thanatos, humor, personal mythologies, misunderstandings and anthropomorphisms.
