The works of art. Fruit of the genius of an artist, when they are completed, they live an autonomous life of their own. We often see them neatly displayed in a museum or exhibition. But thinking back to when they were made, it is easy to realize how they were conceived to be placed in a specific place, to furnish a residence or even a specific room of a collector who was often also the client. A further life is that of the paintings, which goes beyond that of the initial clients and who bring them into the hands of generations of heirs who succeed one another over time, establishing new relationships with the people who temporarily owned them. The exhibition presents works by great masters such as Monet, Cézanne, Fujita Tsuguharu, Kishida Ryusei and explores the situations in which they were created and how they were treated and transmitted over time.
