Yoshiaki Kaihatsu is a contemporary Japanese artist known for his conceptual works which often have an important participatory component. Kaihatsu often addresses social issues, environmental concerns, and the individual's role within their community. Since the beginning of his career in the 1990s, the artist has dedicated himself to artistic activities that engage and provoke communication, with an underlying interest in familiar events, such as daily life and social events. His works are fun and provocative at the same time and embrace a variety of expressive elements. This is the first major exhibition of him in a Tokyo museum.
