Dubai Opera will present The Nutcracker, the beloved Christmas ballet set to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, inspired by the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann and the libretto by Marius Petipa. This international production brings the timeless magic of a classic masterpiece to one of the Gulf’s most iconic venues. The story follows young Clara and her prince on a dreamlike journey through snowy realms and the Land of Sweets. The choreography, set to Tchaikovsky’s score, captures the enchanted atmosphere that has made this ballet a symbol of the holiday season around the world. The production is staged by the Astrakhan Theatre Opera and Ballet, one of Russia’s oldest theatre companies, renowned for the quality of its classical repertoire and the excellence of its performers. Founded in 1899, the company has a long-standing tradition in opera and ballet, bringing together internationally acclaimed dancers, soloists, and musicians. The leading roles of The Nutcracker will be performed by Ekaterina Bulgutova as Clara and Alexander Yakovlev as the Prince, under the artistic direction of Dmitry Tcherbadzhi, known for his stylistic precision and balance between technical virtuosity and poetic staging.
