The art of the southern hemisphere is at the center of Art Dubai 2024, the fair that gives a voice to artists from the four corners of the world and in particular from the city of Dubai. A unique vantage point to redefine what constitutes the "Global South" and capable of giving artists and galleries a platform for dialogue. Now in its 17th edition, the fair will take place from 1 to 3 March 2024 (with preview days on 28 and 29 February). The Bawwaba section, which in Arabic means door, will be curated by Emiliano Valdés, curator of the Museum of Modern Art of Medellin in Colombia, and will focus on artists who explore the concept of healing on a personal, social and political level. Art Dubai Modern will be curated by Christianna Bonin, professor of Art History at the American University of Sharjah, and will explore the cultural dynamics of an enlarged geographical area that gave rise to today's Southern hemisphere. The post-1940s geopolitical landscape that redefined the relationships between the region's artists, musicians, architects and filmmakers, creating intricate cultural ties, will be in the crosshairs. The third edition of Art Dubai Digital will be curated by Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti, co-directors of IAM-Infinity Art Museum, and will look at new trends in digital arts, AI, AR, VR and NFT.
