He was undoubtedly the greatest artist of that season of Dutch Art which is referred to as the “Golden Age” - the XVII Century. Today, for the 350th anniversary of the death of the master himself, Rembrandt is at the centre of an exceptional exhibition at the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi. Over 95 masterpieces of art from the Leiden Collection in New York and the Louvre in Paris, shed light on one of the most fruitful periods in, not only, the history of Dutch art, but also regarding commerce, science and culture in the Netherlands as a whole. 15 paintings and drawings in all by Rembrandt and his studio allow the visitor to follow the evolution of the pictorial language of the Dutch master, famous for his portraits and self-portraits, from the period of his youth spent in Leiden to his adult works, created during his time in Amsterdam. The exhibition also explores the relationship of the artist with his contemporaries, relations and rivalries with colleagues Johannes Vermeer, Jan Lievens, Ferdinand Bol, Carel Fabritius, Gerrit Dou, Frans van Mieris and Frans Hals.
