From Punk to Grime, a Journey through the Urban Underground

From Punk to Grime, a Journey through the Urban Underground
#Art

Are subcultures dead? It seems not. 25 years after the revolutionary exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum Street Style, From Sidewalk to Catwalk, which, even today, remains a cornerstone of work related to the theme, the Trinity Art Gallery explores the subject once again to see how things have progressed. A vibrant journey through time directed by the London College of Fashion. Punks, skinheads and ravers are shown in photos, clothing and cult objects, demonstrating the evolution of the metropolitan underground over time, while rare archival documents remind us of the original exhibition and the most innovative projects of the years to come. The exhibition arrives at the present with the music and styles of Grime, born in the early years of the New Millenium right in the East Side of London. Crowning the exhibition is the launch of an online archive dedicated to the history and meaning of subcultures today, curated by photographer Olivia Rose, author of This is Grime and known for her collaborations with stars of the music scene like Kano and D Double E.
