An internationally renowned Italian architect and designer, Gae Aulenti took her first steps right within the walls of the Triennale, the Milanese institution that today pays homage to her with a major monographic exhibition that covers the entire span of her career, which lasted over sixty years. She had already begun collaborating with the Triennale in the 1950s. Then in 1964, the first important recognition for the installation Arrival at the Sea, created with the silhouettes of Picasso's female figures reflected in mirrors. Gae Aulenti, an influential figure in the Italian cultural sphere, was always recognized for her ability to trigger virtuous points of contact between architecture and the other arts. Through the exploration of some 1:1 portions of the works created, the visitor will be able to experience first-hand the meaning of research according to Aulenti, which was expressed through a great variety of interventions (from exhibition and museum installations to private homes, from showrooms to subway stations and even theater scenes) and was pursued with constancy and fidelity, but also sudden detours and abandonments.
