#Exhibitions

Famous for his portraits characterized by an extraordinary modernity, as well as for his paintings, defined as "portraits in action", which immortalize characters in the exact moment in which they are making a gesture, the Lombard painter Giovan Battista Moroni enriches the autumn of Galleries of Italy in Milan. From 5 December to 1 April, the museum headquarters of Intesa Sanpaolo presents the exhibition Giovan Battista Moroni (1521 - 1580). Il Ritratto del Suo Tempo. Visitors will be able to browse the paintings and drawings of the artist who trained at Moretto's workshop in Brescia, in dialogue with works by contemporary masters such as Lotto, Savoldo, Tiziano, Veronese and Tintoretto. In love with grey, considered the truest color under which he sees reality, Moroni depicts his characters with expressions of hesitation and respect, the same they seem to have towards the painter.
