Uprooted houses, suspended in mid-air, elevators without direction, escalators wound up like balls of wool, as well as stunning and surreal sculptures, offer challenges to buildings that the artist scales virtually. For the first European monographic exhibition dedicated to Leandro Erlich, the genius of large installations which invite the public to interact with them, becoming a part of the work of art, Milan throws open the doors of the Palazzo Reale. The exhibition Leandro Erlich. Oltre la Soglia tells of something ordinary in an extraordinary context, where everything is different than what it seems, the sense of reality is bewildered, just as is the perception of space itself. The itinerary brings to the attention of visitors the work of the Argentinian artist, the result of a profound and conceptual study rife with paradox, which has alreay won over millions of visitors, from Tokyo to Buenos Aires. The works of Erlich enthrall with their capacity to explore the perceptual basis of reality. Through the architecture of the quotidian, the conceptual artist, born in 1973, seeks to create a dialogue between what we believe and what we see, seeking to bridge the distance between the museum space and daily experience.
Over fifty years of Doisneau's career, considered, together with Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the fathers of humanist photography, through a journey divided into sections that analyzes his most recurring and recognizable themes, from war to liberation, work, love, children's games, free time.
Van Gogh’s works from the Kröller-Muller Museum establish a dialogue with the first fil rouge of the exhibition, an accurate selection of original editions of art books and magazines coming from the curator’s collection and the Biblioteca Malatestiana, showcased throughout the whole exhibition.
