For the first large monographic exhibition of Mario Testino ever hosted in an art gallery, 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS has created an ambitious itinerary in two parts which brings 50 works of the Peruvian artist and photographer to the attention of Italian and international collectors. Muses and models that have left their mark on the extraordinary career of Testino, protagonists of never-before-seen shots, make way for a more intimate portrait of the artist, emerging from a veritable ode to Italy. This anthem to the Belpaese, the discovery of which represented a “potent experience” for the photographer which captured his imagination, is told through the publication Ciao (Taschen, 2020), entirely dedicated to his love for Italy. His iconic large-format photographic works flank a body of unseen photos in the exhibition, available in new formats and editions, revealing to the public the more spontaneous and intimate side of a master who, through his photos, has transmitted emotions and energy with depth and immediacy, going beyond genres and cultures to tell of the humans of the world.
