More than 100 images, ten thematic groupings and personal documents, such as portraits, letters and books, make up the varied body of works on display at the Palazzo Reale in the exhibition dedicated to Margaret Bourke-White (1904-1971). The fearless photo-journalist and pioneer of social-issue-based photography, dedicated her life to documenting the stories unfolding before her. Her portraits of Stalin and Gandhi are famed, but also her reporting on Apartheid in South Africa and racial issues in the United States. The images on display are from the archives of Life in New York, the magazine for which Bourke-White worked and for which she shot the very first cover image. The images are presented chronologically, retracing her creative, human and existential path. They cover the most important events and people of the 1900s, as well as encounters with other photographers, like Alfred Eisenstaedt and Lee Miller.
