The Power of Jamu Juice - the Real Recipe

The Power of Jamu Juice - the Real Recipe
#BvlgariStories

Flavour meets well-being in Jamu Juice, the delicious Balinese elixir with healing properties. The name comes from Jamu, the natural Indonesian medicine which has been used to treat illness since ancient times, using herbs, roots and spices, each with a regenerative and beneficial function for a specific organ of the body. There are numerous personalised versions of this refreshing tonic, but the original recipe has only a few, healthy ingredients - the inebriating fragrance of fresh turmeric and ginger with its slightly spicy tone, as well as a citrus and slightly acidic flavour from lime and tamarind, with an occasional dash of honey or other sweetener according to individual taste. Making Jamu Juice at home is simple. After having peeled and steamed the roots for around twenty minutes, a fundamental step for breaking down the starches and, thus essential to the health benefits of the drink, add water, lime and tamarind and mix it in a blender. Strain the mix, let it chill in a glass bottle and the drink is ready to taste. Served cold in a glass or hot in a cup, it is a natural drink with a golden colour, to be enjoyed daily, reinforcing the immune system, thanks to its miraculous ingredients. Turmeric, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory (the addition of black pepper favours the absorption of the turmeric), also works against the ageing of skin. Meanwhile, ginger acts as a natural antibiotic with anti-inflammatory properties and anti-viral properties for the digestive tract. It is an outright nectar for well-being.
