The London Palladium welcomes the return of Evita, one of the most beloved musicals in the Anglo-American repertoire. The show premieres on 14 June 2025 in a new production directed by Jamie Lloyd, who brings a contemporary perspective to the work of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The official opening night is scheduled for 1 July, with performances running until 6 September. For West End audiences, the production also marks the London debut of Rachel Zegler in the role of Eva Perón. Starring alongside her is Diego Andres Rodriguez as Che, the narrator who moves through and comments on the story. This staging sees director Jamie Lloyd return to Evita following his acclaimed open-air version in 2019. The score features iconic songs such as Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, Oh What a Circus, Another Suitcase in Another Hall and You Must Love Me, the latter awarded an Academy Award. Evita traces the rise and death of Argentina’s First Lady, blending personality cult, politics, and popular myth. More than forty years after its debut, the musical continues to be staged around the world for its compelling narrative and musical strength.
