The Nashville Legend

The Nashville Legend
#Exhibitions

The iconography of Country music owes a lot to Alan Messer. The British photographer encountered what would become one of the main themes of his career - the legendary tale of the protagonists, old stars and newcomers, of Country music - in London in the mid-1970s. A few years later Messer moved to the "capital of Country music", Nashville, where he opened his own studio and had the opportunity to create portraits of musicians, record companies and icons such as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and many others. This exhibition presents a sweeping survey of Messer's work that documents the eras, artists, and most extraordinary moments of Country through the gaze of an artist who has immersed himself in that fascinating world for nearly fifty years.
