The Body that is Our Dreams

The Body that is Our Dreams
#Exhibitions

Since the end of last May, patron Michael Xufu Huang's X Museum has had a new location at Langyuan station in the Chaoyang district, in a former textile factory. The new building, spread over two floors, is the result of a futuristic intervention by the architects of Studio NOR, which led to a complete renovation of the internal and external spaces. The new facade, marked by metal frames that can accommodate various projects and works of art, serves as an additional exhibition gallery, visible from the outside of the building. For the inauguration, the exhibition X Pink 101 is set up, centered on the theme of the body. A total of 49 works, selected from the over 1.500 works of art that make up the museum's permanent collection and focused on the themes of pink and the post-pandemic era, investigate highly topical issues: the body, gender, race, identity and the surreal. Featuring artists from over 15 countries, ranging from the pioneering sculptor Heidi Bucher to the leading figurative artist of the new millennium Christina Quarles, the exhibition explores individual and collective memories, seeking to trace the evolution of cultural models of our time related to the body. Tools with which we communicate our thoughts to the outside world, objects of desire and fantasy, bodies, bearers of ideas and ideals, lead us to the infinite visualization of our dreams.
