With Interflowing Artscapes, the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing unveils an unprecedented exhibition: 244 works by over 130 international artists from its collection are being presented to the public for the first time. It is a visual journey across five continents and three centuries, ranging from 19th-century European paintings to the most recent expressions of global contemporary art. The exhibition is structured around two complementary sections. Global Artistic Resonance presents a diverse range of works through a pluralistic lens, highlighting the cultural richness and international perspective of the museum’s collection. China Refracted Visions features a selection of works created in and about China by four foreign artists, offering an “external” view of Chinese realities. Together, these two sections - “viewing the world” and “seeing China” - establish a bidirectional cultural dialogue, reflecting, like the dynamic flow of Tai Chi, the continuous exchange between cultures and the ever-evolving vitality of global art. Beyond showcasing CAFA’s rich heritage, Interflowing Artscapes invites reflection on art's role in building global connections. It is a visual narrative that unites past and present, charting a new geography of art through the Chinese gaze.
