The wonder of flowers in art

The wonder of flowers in art
#Exhibitions

A true ode to flowers in all their beauty and wonder, on a journey through art and the centuries. Blossom, ongoing at the Long Museum West Bund, offers a selection of over 200 paintings by 150 artists, spanning ten centuries of history through a narrative divided into five chapters. They range from traditional Chinese paintings of flowers and birds, to modern works of art from the mid-19th century to more recent productions of contemporary art. Messages and feelings are conveyed through flowers: each flower represents a subject in itself. Central part of the scenario, the flower can sometimes accompany other figures, be a symbol dear to people's hearts or represent an effective means of transmitting ideas.
