Level 42 will return to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall for a stop on their World Machine 40th Anniversary tour, celebrating the album that catapulted them onto the international music scene in 1985. The legendary British band, led by Mark King with his unmistakable slap bass style and joined by Mike Lindup on keyboards and vocals, defined an era by blending Jazz-Funk, sophisticated Pop, and electronic rhythms into a distinctive and influential sound. Formed in 1979 on the Isle of Wight, Level 42 first gained attention with instrumental tracks before breaking through with a string of hits that helped shape the sound of the 1980s. Among their most iconic songs are The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up), Something About You, Running in the Family, It’s Over and above all Lessons in Love, the 1986 global hit that climbed charts around the world, from the UK to the US and Japan. The London concert is not just a return to one of the most prestigious live music venues, but also a symbolic homecoming: the Royal Albert Hall hosted one of the final shows of the band’s original lineup in the 1990s, and now it sets the stage for an evening that bridges past and present. Also performing as special guests will be Roachford, the London-based Soul-Funk group led by Andrew Roachford, another key figure in the British music scene. The event promises to be a musical journey through the tracks that made the sound of Level 42 timeless, featuring a setlist filled with their most beloved classics and moments of instrumental brilliance. More than forty years after their debut, Level 42 continue to resonate with today’s audiences through their elegance, groove, and the perfect balance of technical skill and accessibility that made them one of the most respected bands of their generation.
