A major group exhibition developed together with the Goethe-Institut China brings to Beijing one of the most compelling exhibition projects dedicated to techno culture. Launched in 2021 and already presented in numerous cities across Europe, the Americas and Asia, the project arrives in China for the first time with an edition designed to present techno as a global cultural phenomenon. The exhibition features 22 works, including videos, installations, sound pieces and performances, created by international artists and collectives. The journey is not aimed at electronic music specialists, but at anyone curious to understand why techno has become far more than a musical genre. The works reveal how this culture has influenced art, fashion, design and technology, as well as the way people experience space and time. From its origins in Detroit in the 1980s to its European breakthrough after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the exhibition shows how techno has accompanied major social transformations. Techno Worlds invites audiences to explore a constantly evolving subculture, one that reflects the present and imagines new futures.
