Discovering Old Bali in the Sidemen Valley

Characteristic villages lining green fields dotted with colourful flowers snooze, huddled between terraced rice paddies, watched over by Mount Agung. Welcome to Sidemen Valley, a hidden gem, ninety-minutes drive Northeast of Ubud, the last bastion of Balinese tradition which still jealously guards the authentic face of the island. Come just for a walk to discover tiny villages framed by rice paddies and farmlands, where you can see the people of the area engaged in age-old traditional activities. Early in the morning, take a leap into the vivid colours and boisterous howls of the traditional local market of Sidemen with its indoor complex and external courtyard, yet still pouring out onto the main street.
