Founded in 1951, this acrobatic ensemble is the oldest in Shanghai. Their performances are among the most refined and popular in town, with a huge variety of extraordinary acts. Contortionists and acrobats are the stars of surprising choreographies which are rehearsed endlessly to achieve absolute perfection. These spectacular shows are performed in a luxurious, ultra-modern home which also pays homage to the great Chinese circus tradition which, over centuries, evolved into a remarkably refined art form. There are over two-hundred classic specialty acts which are continually improved and pushed to their most extreme limits. Among these, the bicycle show, which involves up to six people completely twisting themselves about while keeping their balance on a single bike. There are acrobats standing on thin staffs held by two men. Artists balancing on shifting boards who catch plates and bowls tossed at them as they amazingly keep upright. All of this is accompanied by music and comic sketches. This group of professionals has masterfully brought together tradition and modernity, with performances pushed to the extremes of the possible. Meanwhile, the public is even further engaged by the wild narratives that accompany these performances!
