In 2025 Tokyo is the Temple of world Athletics

From 13 to 21 September 2025, Tokyo hosts the 20th edition of the World Athletics Championships. The event will take place at the Japan National Stadium, which also served as the venue for the 2020 Olympic Games, and will feature over 2.000 athletes from around 200 countries. Among the most anticipated events are the sprint races, where Olympic champion Noah Lyles aims for a triple gold in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4 × 100 metres relay, coming off a season marked by outstanding performances. Australian youngster Gout Gout, only seventeen years old, has caught global attention with a 19.84 time in the 200 metres (though wind-assisted) and will be one of the emerging talents to watch. Marcell Jacobs, the Italian Olympic gold medallist in the 100 metres at Tokyo 2020, will seek to reaffirm his place among the world's best. Great interest also surrounds the long jump, where Italy’s Mattia Furlani, fresh from his world indoor title with an 8.30-metre jump, will face off against Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou, the reigning Olympic and world champion. Their duel promises to be one of the highlights of the competition.
