Nusa Dua is one of the most famous areas of southern Bali, comprised of an immense beach and luxurious seaside resort. The name literally means “two islands” because it is formed by two artificial islands situated in front of the eastern shore. On the western island, hides a magic spot where the waves “explode” to dizzying heights as they smash the rocky coast, reaching heights of 30 metres. A natural spectacle absolutely begging to be photographed. It is awe-inspiring to witness the so-called "Water Blow" in person, an enormous blast of white foam liberating its kinetic energy with its impact on the rocks while feeling the power of these jets of water, splintering into playful forms and reflections which are continually changing. After following a paved trail for twenty minutes, a wooden board perched on a white stone gate reading “Water Blow” welcomes visitors. Next to this gate is a list of precautions which deserve the utmost attention. Like every natural event, one must be lucky and hope to have a day where the tide is high and the winds are blowing right, guaranteeing the most potent waves. The best period is generally from July to October. It is highly recommended to bring an umbrella and a water-proof jacket, considering the high possibility of getting totally soaked!
Traditional shadow play, guided by a lively puppeteer, introduces the public to local folklore.
