Hua International presents E-nnui, an exhibition of the New York-based collective CFGNY and the Chinese artist Tao Hui. The title evokes the widespread weariness of the digital age and the phenomenon of involution, connected to work increasingly mediated by platforms. The exhibition reflects on e-labour: a continuous stream of images, aesthetic replicas and consumption of attention that produces collective fatigue. E-nnui revolves around network aesthetics and consumption dynamics, showing how our online imagination shapes our behaviour. Installations and videos offer different perspectives on electronic fatigue.
CFGNY explores the notion of “vaguely Asian” to examine the relationships among identity, perception and cultural appropriations, combining craft and digital simulation. Tao Hui recreates familiar yet unsettling realities to reflect on desires and emotions shaped by the media. The exhibition creates a dialogue between aesthetics and society, suggesting a critical reading of our shared imagery.
