Walking through the new exhibition dedicated to the Italian Renaissance at the National Art Museum of China feels like entering a visual journey through Florence, art, and humanism. Created in collaboration with the Uffizi Galleries, Homage to the Virtuosos: From Leonardo da Vinci to Caravaggio – Masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance brings together masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, and Caravaggio. The exhibition unfolds through galleries immersed in deep shades of red and blue, crossed by archways inspired by Italian architecture. Visitors are guided through the evolution of the Renaissance, from its Florentine beginnings to the great masters of the seventeenth century. At the center of the installation, immersive 360-degree projections transform transitional spaces into cinematic environments: the façade of the Uffizi appears across the walls, while in the final section a virtual window opens onto the landscape of the Arno River. Quotes by Renaissance artists and thinkers, translated into Chinese and English, accompany the works and create a continuous dialogue between images, architecture, and ideas. More than a traditional painting exhibition, the show becomes an immersive experience that transports visitors into the cultural atmosphere of the Italian Renaissance.
