The Olympics are back in Paris

The Olympics return to Paris. The 33rd edition of the Olympic Games will in fact take place in the French capital exactly 100 years after the last event in which the Ville Lumière hosted the most famous sporting event in the world. In the intentions of the organizers, this edition of the Olympics will take place in the heart of the city, its monuments and its history, with sporting events that will transform Paris into a sort of large Olympic park. The link between the Olympic Games and Paris dates back to the dawn of time. The founder of the modern events, the French baron Pierre de Coubertin, wanted the first edition of 1896 to take place in Athens to seal the ideal connection with the Olympics that once took place in ancient Greece. The second edition of the Olympics already found its home in 1900 in the capital of the hexagon in the year of the famous Universal Exhibition. Paris will become the second city, after London (1908, 1948 and 2012), to host the Summer Olympic Games three times, after the 1900 and 1924 editions. Paris 2024 will see the participation of 10.500 athletes and 206 delegations, 28 traditional Olympic sports, from athletics to swimming and gymnastics, as well as four new sports: sport climbing, skateboarding, surfing and, for the first time in history of the Olympic Games, breaking dance.
