The deceptive simplicity of Ellsworth Kelly

The deceptive simplicity of Ellsworth Kelly
#Exhibitions

Parallel to the exhibition dedicated to Matisse's The Red Studio, Fondation Luis Vuitton is staging another exhibition to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the American artist Ellsworth Kelly. In this case the color that inspires the entire project is green, a pigment that plays an important role in the artist's production and in particular in his famous monochrome Green Painting (1952). The exhibition entitled Ellsworth Kelly. Shapes and Colors, 1949-2015 will be the first in France to offer a broad overview of the artistic practice of this important painter of the second half of the 20th century. Thanks to many prestigious international loans from institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Kröller-Müller Museum, Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Tate, Whitney Museum and loans from important private collectors, this exhibition manages to reconstruct the seventy years of Ellsworth Kelly's career with more than 100 works that will be presented together in Paris for the first time.
