An extraordinary concert celebrates the musical encounter between tradition and European Jazz. The trio Mare Nostrum - Paolo Fresu (trumpet), Richard Galliano (accordion), and Jan Lundgren (piano) - presents a unique musical project that has come to define the new “Sound of Europe.” Born in 2005 as an experimental collaboration in Sweden, the trio has evolved over two decades into one of the most refined ensembles in contemporary jazz. These three musicians, hailing from Sardinia, France, and Sweden respectively, weave melodies that evoke the full breadth of the continent: from sunlit Mediterranean landscapes to the melancholic tones of the North. Their original compositions are like cinematic short stories - sophisticated and intimately crafted through the interplay of instruments, improvisation, and refined melodic sensitivity. Fresu, with his velvety and autobiographical tone, blends Jazz and World Music influences with a light yet emotionally profound touch, often integrating electronic effects as part of his sonic language. This performance is far more than entertainment - it is a refined cultural experience. Music becomes a bridge between diverse roots, where gesture, silence, and harmony engage in dialogue with the audience. At a time when Europe is searching for a shared voice, Mare Nostrum resounds as a poetic and conscious artistic statement.
